About Us

Here’s the deal, Community Baptist Church cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Community is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.

These are really special days at Community Baptist Church.  Over the past 65 years, this family of believers has endured countless hardships and challenges while maintaining a loving and caring spirit that is truly unique and special. As we continue to seek God’s will and direction in our ministries here and elsewhere, we are mindful always of those who have devoted themselves to God’s ministry here in the Maylene and surrounding area in such a special way over the years.  At the same time, we understand that this church – both its facilities and its people – is not ours, but God’s, and we are called to use the time and resources He has graciously given us to minister to one another and to the communities and individuals that are nearby and beyond.

We truly believe that God is good all the time, and our individual and collective experiences have constantly verified His goodness toward us and the ministry He has prepared us to perform in this place.  We count it our privilege to serve one another and those who are around us.

What’s the bottom line? More than ever, Community is committed to fostering a family built around hope. Hope for the future. Hope for better. Hope for progress. Hope in Jesus. And as we move forward as a church family, inclusion and belonging remain at the center of who we are as followers of Christ.

Most importantly, you’re always welcome at Community. We’re saving a seat for you. Wherever you’re at in your faith journey, you’ll always be accepted as part of the Community Baptist family.

Beliefs

Click each sub-section below to find out what we at Community believe on the following topics

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  These three are coequal and are one God.

(See Genesis 1:1,26 & 27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He is coequal with the Father.  He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of everyone by dying on a cross.  He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.  He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

(See Matthew 1:22,23;  Isaiah 9:6;  John 1:1-5, 14:10-30;  Titus 2:13;  Hebrews 4:14,15;  1 Corinthians 15:3,4;  Romans 1:3,4;  Acts 1:9-11;  1 Timothy 6:14,15)

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Jesus, the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is present int he world to make us aware of our desperate need for Jesus Christ. He empowers the Christian to understand the spiritual truth, provides guidance in living a Christian life, and interceding for us with the Father.

(See 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 2:13, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25)

The Bible is God’s messages to us in written form. It was written by human authors, empowered and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is our source of truth that teaches us how to live. We believe the Bible to be inerrant and without fallacy.

(See 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a fresh start with God, we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and commit to His will for our lives.

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together.
